Events, pop-ups announced for Metallica’s residency at Sphere

Hype for Metallica’s “Life Burns Faster” residency at Sphere is spreading like, well, wildfire. And the heavy metal trailblazers are reaching fans beyond the production inside the Bulbous Wonder.

The Life Burns Faster Experience opens along the walkway from Restaurant Row to the Sphere’s west entrance from 10 a.m. Wednesday.

The fan experience’s hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesdays and Fridays, 10 a.m. until after the show on Thursdays and Saturdays, and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sundays. This schedule holds for the residency’s first two weeks. An updated date/time list is forthcoming; go to metallica.com for intel.

This is the venue otherwise known as Summit Showroom. The space is another of Sphere residencies’ “semi-permanent” storefront and fan experience in that room.

The band’s Black Box will be open to the public on “Black Box Friday.” This is the official digital and physical archival museum, created by Metallica to share rare memorabilia, artifacts and vault content from throughout the band’s 40-plus-year career.

Events include appearances by Squindo, the artist, illustrator, and painter and Metallica’s longtime graphic collaborator. Spider-Dan and Steffan Chirazi host ‘Tallica Talk for “Maximum Metallica” on SiriusXM.

A “Smoke & Metal” meet-and-greet with Rob Dietrich is set for Eight Lounge at Resorts World is set for 4 to 7 p.m. Oct. 2, Oct. 16 and Nov. 6. Dietrich is a master distiller of Blackened American Whiskey, and Blackened cigar brand.

Davidoff of Geneva Cigar Bar at the Strip-facing front of Fashion Show mall hosts a cigar happy hour from 2 to 8 p.m on all “Life Burns Faster” dates.

The Red Cross x Metallica Blood Donation Experience pop-up center, also at Fashion show (second level, near Dillard’s), opens Monday and runs noon to 8 p.m. Mondays through March 19. The project is in the band’s “All Within My Hands” donation campaign. Sponsored by Delta Airlines, the center allows donors a peek backstage at a show.

The opportunity to sit at a replica of Lars Ulrich’s drum set is available to donors. Metallica art and memorabilia are displayed. “Maximum Metallica” is on the house sound system. All donors receive a limited-edition T-shirt designed by Squindo (while supplies last), and will be entered for a chance to win the on-site drum kit. Go to RedCrossBlood.org/Metallica for more info.
