The guy who looked like Metallica’s James Hetfield at the Punk Rock Museum over the weekend? It really was him.
The hard rock legend was shown in an @ThePunkRockMuseum Instagram post, arms open and wearing a black Misfits T-shirt.
“Thanks to James Hetfield from @metallica for stopping by and checking out the museum today! Who’s coming to see the @spherevegas shows?”
The response on the official Metallica IG post: “So THAT’S where he was!”
Metallica is prepping for its residency debut at Sphere on Thursday and Saturday nights. A host of fan events are synced with the production.
In the post, Hetfield sports what seems to be a new, dark black streak through his hair. The pic also shows a couple of random visitors walking out of the museum, toting merch bags and oblivious to the icon posing for the photo.
Hetfield’s nod to the Misfits wasn’t random. The 63-year-old recording superstar has cited Doyle Wolfgang von Frankenstein, the horror-tinged punk band’s guitarist, as an inspiration for his downstroke rhythm playing. Metallica has covered the Misfits’ “Last Caress” and “Green Hell” on its 1987 EP, “Garage Days Re-Revisited.”
