There is a lot of sad-sacking going around the Republican campaigns this season. The “woe is me” and “I do not support the consequences of what I voted for” cries can be heard from east to west. And I have nary an iota of sympathy for the whiners.
Not only do adults understand that there are always consequences for one’s actions, but these guys and gals had a blueprint to read from that made it clear President Donald Trump is incapable of not antagonizing important groups of voters, particularly their own constituents, whom they chose to ignore for most of the last 22 months.
Why did Trump et al. lose in 2020? Because he managed to anger one voting bloc after another until there were just too many ticked off voters for him to win.
What is baffling is that seasoned politicians in Washington, D.C., seem incapable of seeing what happened publicly, over and over again, for months during the last year of his first term. And now they want to claim that they were fooled by his banter?
Failing to appreciate the long-term consequences of an action or a vote is not a reasonable excuse for their choices. They must all be held accountable by the voters.
