Honolulu firefighters extinguished a 40-foot shipping container fire in Maili this afternoon.
The Honolulu Fire Department received a 911 call at 2:07 p.m. today and responded to signs of smoke near the Kaukamana and Kulaaupuni streets, according to a news release. HFD sent five units staffed with 14 personnel to the scene 10 minutes later to find the shipping container in flames.
The fire was declared under control at 2:19 p.m. and fully extinguished 32 minutes later.
An investigation is underway to determine the fire’s origin, cause and damage estimates.
