Country legend Garth Brooks announcing something ‘historic’ next week

Country has gone cryptic. We have Garth Brooks to thank.

The recording superstar has posted a countdown clock on his official website with the message “THE FUTURE IS ABOUT TO BECOME HISTORY.” The timer is set to expire Tuesday.

No other details are provided. Through the Las Vegas prism, Sphere would be the most likely (if not the only) place where Brooks would make history. But we are confidently informed the upcoming announcement is not for a Sphere show.

Sphere officials have not returned requests for comment, and typically refrain from commenting on acts not officially announced at the venue. A rep for Brooks has not returned a request for comment confirmation or clarity about Brooks coming back to Vegas.

And “historic” could cover an array of potential projects. A new album. A live simulcast concert. A world tour. An expansion of his Friends in Low Places Bar & Honky-Tonk.

Whichever, the 64-year-old country legend has played just about everywhere else but Sphere in Las Vegas. Most recently, he appeared at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace on his “Plus One” residency from May 2023 through March ‘25.

The “Friends in Low Places” icon has previously headlined at Allegiant Stadium, Dolby Live at Park MGM, T-Mobile Arena and Encore Theater at Wynn Las Vegas.

On Saturday, Brooks played for nearly 70,000 fans at BST Hyde Park in London. It was his first U.K. performance in nearly 30 years.
