Seized cash is seen at the site of a gambling raid in Ewa Beach on Thursday.
Honolulu police seized 15 gaming machines and more than $2,700 in cash after executing a search warrant Thursday at an illegal gambling room on Old Fort Weaver Road in Ewa Beach.
The Honolulu Police Department’s Narcotics/Vice Division Gambling Detail, assisted by the District 8 Crime Reduction Unit, Forfeiture Detail, Airport Operations Group and Specialized Services Division, carried out the operation at about 5 p.m. on Thursday.
All of the gaming machines and cash were submitted into evidence, according to HPD.
Additionally, a 44-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of promoting gambling in the second degree and possession of a gambling device.
“Each shutdown not only disrupts an illegal operation but also provides valuable information that can help identify and investigate those responsible for organizing and profiting from these activities,” said Maj. Jerome Pacarro of HPD’s Narcotics/Vice Division.
Pacarro said the enforcement operations are part of the department’s ongoing efforts to address illegal gambling.
