The Straw Hat Crew is sailing on from Las Vegas.
One Piece Cafe, the restaurant inspired by One Piece, the hugely popular Japanese manga and anime franchise starring Monkey D. Luffy, a boy who can stretch his body like rubber, and his crew, the Straw Hat Pirates, is closing after service on Oct. 2, according to a pair of recent Instagram posts.
“Las Vegas, thank you for being part of our journey … We’re excited to share that One Piece Cafe will be continuing on the road as a pop-up experience, with a new location to be announced soon. Our Los Angeles cafe will also remain open long term for fans to continue visiting,” the initial post reads, in part.
One Piece Cafe, the first official One Piece restaurant in the U.S., opened in April 2024 at 5600 Spring Mountain Road in Chinatown Vegas. The cafe grew out of a partnership between L.A. restaurateur Andy Nguyen and Toei Animation, which adapted the manga into an anime series.
The debut menu variously drew inspiration from signature anime moments and from character cravings and favorite meals. These included a Japanese fruit sando, onigiri rice balls, beef curry and a Mighty Meats Pirates Platter (a nod to Luffy’s enthusiastic carnivorousness), as well as sweets such as stretchy mochi cookies in four flavors; Big Mom’s Wedding Cake layering strawberry, chocolate and ube; and a Gum-Gum Fruit Mousse Bomb featuring vanilla sponge cake, a white chocolate shell and fresh fruit.
During its final weeks, customers who spend at least $100 will receive a Straw Hat Crew Las Vegas tote bag, and those who spend at least $150 receive the tote bag and a white Straw Hat Crew T-shirt.
