Maitland’s Enzian arthouse caps off their Pride month slate of programming with queer-cult hit Fucktoys this weekend. The 2025 film, a directorial debut for Annapurna Sriram (who also stars in the film), is an incredible combo of John Waters, retro erotic thrillers and supernatural symbolism.
The film was born out of Sriram’s intersecting desires to subvert the male gaze, play an iconic queer sexpot, express frustration with the Hollywood system and celebrate outsiders (per Deadline.com). A heady bill of fare for certain, but she’s pulled off that hat trick. Check out this one-night-only screening, where Sriram will be present to talk about the film and meet fans. Not to be missed.
