Police have arrested two more teenage boys in connection with a Sept. 19 shooting in a Halawa parking lot that left a 15-year-boy seriously wounded.
The Honolulu Police Department said that two boys, ages 16 and 17, were identified as suspects during the investigation and officers from the Crime Reduction Unit located and arrested both suspects Tuesday for suspicion of first-degree attempted murder, three counts of second-degree attempted murder and first-degree theft. Charges will be sought through the Honolulu Department of the Prosecuting Attorney, HPD said.
These were the second and third arrests in the case.
On Monday, city prosecutors charged a 15-year-old boy, who was arrested Friday, for first-degree attempted murder, three counts of second-degree attempted murder, three counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a separate felony, first-degree theft and a firearms offense.
Police said that on Sept. 19 at about 2:30 a.m. in the parking lot of Halawa Housing on Kohomua Street, a male wearing all black clothing and a ski mask exited a vehicle and approached three juveniles. The suspect raised what appeared to be a handgun and fired several shots, striking the victim, according to HPD.
The victim was treated by Honolulu Emergency Medical Services personnel and taken to a hospital in serious condition. Police have not released an update on the boy’s condition.
